NLAPW The National League of American Pen Women, Inc., was organized in 1897 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. NLAPW has a membership of more than 6,000 writers, artists and composers in branches throughout the United States and the Panama Canal Zone. Members promote development of the creative talents of professional women in the arts and competitions are held at Branch, State and National levels. Another community arts outreach program, the television show Pen Women Presents: Interviews with Creative People Talking About Creativity! airs regularly on San Francisco Access Channel 29. The Nob Hill Branch also coordinates both judged and juried art shows and exhibits. Branch members serve as judges, lecturers, teachers, coordinators and facilitators for a variety of arts related community and outreach events and in partnership with City College of San Francisco, sponsors an annual scholarship for a mature woman in the arts.
